How to up right an outrigger after the huli
« on: April 23, 2012, 03:52PM »

I am dusting this video off and standing on my soapbox once again!!!

In light of this past weekends huli drills and for those fortunate enough to huli during practice.... here is a good video to watch.

If we can counter balance the canoe when it's going over, then the ama won't slam back on the water which, as we know and comment on everytime we see it happen, can split the ama. Costing $$$$ to repair.

The commentator is hard to listen to, I know, but the "counter balance" part is so critical and VERY easy. It's about the 1:00 mark on the video.

Happy paddling!  ;D

Watching from the distance, things went over much softer than before, but we all need to remember the counter balance issue to keep the ama from smacking down.  You guys did good today - sorry you had to get wet though -

:P  Marla you would have been proud - after the boat went over, you could hear Alli yelling out "oops - my bad!"  but all were fine (cold and wet) but fine and they got the boat over and upright again so we could continue on with our mega workout - just glad it wasn't me........
