Got Ink

Any body interested in getting inked should take a look at Tricia Allen's web site for Polynesian style tattoo. To see her work you can check out her web site:

She has also written a book on the subject:
Tattoo Traditions of Hawai'i by Tricia Allen which can be ordered from Amazon.com

Tricia Allen has been involved in the Polynesian tattoo revival, as both a practitioner and an academic researcher, since 1988. She studied the ancient form of Polynesian tattoo for her master's degree, which she completed in 1992 in Anthropology at the University of Hawai'i. Since then, she has been researching the revival of the arts in the Pacific. Her work has taken her to the Marquesas, Tahiti, Rapa Nui (Easter Island), New Caledonia, Aotearoa (New Zealand) and Samoa. Although her permanent home is still in Hawaii, Tricia regularly schedules trips to both Northern and Southern California to tattoo members of the Polynesian community by advance appointment.

Tricia's extensive experience and research on Polynesian art and culture have given her a unique approach to the art. Tricia does not tattoo commercial "flash" as she believes each tattoo should be as unique as the individual. She encourages her clients to choose designs that have deep significance, and often provides guidance through the process of design selection. Each of Tricia's tattoos is a unique work designed for and with each individual. They should not be copied or replicated without permission of the person wearing the tattoo.

E Pono 'oukou e 'ike Anakala Keone Nunez. Nānā kēia:
You should als look to Uncle Keone Nunez.  Look at this:

http://www.pauhi.com/NewMasterArtist%20.htm

Keone Nunes is one of Hawai'i's leading experts on Polynesian culture, customs, and kākau (tattooing).  As a kahuna ka uhi (expert tattooist), he exclusively  uses traditional Hawaiian tools in his work which are rooted in a long lineage of practice, genealogy, and protocols.  He studied under the late Su'a Sulu'ape Paulo (Samoa) in the use of traditional Polynesian implements and under several Hawaiian kūpuna (elders) concerning Hawaiian tattooing traditions.  He received the title of Su'a Sulu'ape in Falese'ela, Samoa.  Keone graduated from the University of Hawai'i Mānoa with a Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology and a certificated in Hawaiian Language.  In addition to being a leading figure to the Reinaissance of Hawaiian kākau, Keone is an important educator and community leater, lecturing and working extensively throughout the world.  He has worked for the Bishop Museum , the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, University of Hawai'i, and the Kamehameha Schools.

Besides this introductory text that's on his site.  Pesonally, I'll be getting my next tattoo from Anakala Keone.  He not only is a kahuna ka uhi, he is also a kumu hula, which aids in his mana'o and kaona when creating his artwork.

Also he not only does tattoos in Nanakuli, O'ahu, he also comes out to the mainland, you'd just have to contact him/them to check their availability

You can also see Tricia's FB probile here:
